In a case of extreme animal cruelty, the dog was found with multiple injuries ranging from lacerations on the tail & back legs to the disfigurement of the dog’s face/head as someone cut off it’s nose and both ears. The dog was rushed to MHS’ Mackey Center for Animal Care in Detroit, and medical staff has begun to attempt to make the dog as comfortable as possible.

Lead cruelty investigator, Mark Ramos of  the Michigan Humane Society stated, “It appears that someone purposely maimed this poor dog, which has caused it a great deal of suffering. This kind of cruelty is unacceptable. We need to be a voice for these animals and as a community we need to speak through our strong actions to make sure this doesn’t happen again.” The Michigan Humane Society is now offering a $2,500 reward for information that leads to an arrest in this horrific case of animal cruelty.

According to the Animal Legal Defense Fund, Michigan’s animal cruelty and abuse laws rank top tier, coming in as number five in the nation for animal protection (Illinois is #1.) If found guilty, the abuser in this case could face misdemeanor charges, fines up to $2,000, up to one year in jail and possible community service up to 300 hours due to the state of Michigan animal protection laws.
