Chicago is fairly well known for it’s abundance of overzealous towing services and tow truck drivers. This video of a driver refusing to stop despite the car’s owner being present (and the owner’s dog in the car) has now gone viral. Dog lover, Victor Jaime, had to think fast when a tow truck driver refused to stop while he and his dog were inside their vehicle. His decision resulted in a tow truck escape that not only saved his dog’s life, but has also turned into a viral video online.

The incident took place on March 29 in Chicago’s River North neighborhood. Victor Jaime and a friend went out for some fast food at one of Chicago’s famous Portillo’s restaurants located at 100 W Ontario Street and brought his English bulldog “George” for some much loved Italian beef and a car-ride. They left the car running at an adjacent the Walgreen’s lot at Clark & Ontario St. with George anxiously awaiting their return with the beef- but within minutes the vehicle was already being towed.

Upon arriving back at the car (a 2015 JEEP) the tow truck was backing up as Jaime ran up yelling for him to stop. The driver was not phased by the pleas, and drove off while Jaime was yelling and jumping into his moving car to save his dog. Even after hanging out the window of the car while waving and yelling, the tow truck driver had not intention of letting them go and proceeded to raise the vehicle even higher as if to torment the frantic pair. The video caught by an phone video of an onlooking neighbor, shows the heroic escape and has already been viewed a couple million times.

According to DNA info, “The towing company, Lincoln Towing, was unavailable to comment Monday.”

Lincoln Towing Service has an “F” rating with the Better Business Bureau, the lowest possible rating for any business. To date they have 47 complaints on record with the BBB and have not even responded to 41 of those complaints. They go on to report, “Business has failed to resolve underlying cause(s) of a pattern of complaints.”

The “Tow Truck ESCAPE River North Chicago” (to save his bulldog) video going viral is not the first time Lincoln towing has received media attention. CBS reported unethical towing practices by this company, Woman Sues Towing Company For Wrongly Seizing Her Car for illegal towing not far from this recent scene. Ruthless and unethical practices were exhibited in both cases towing a vehicle despite either proof of parking permit or an owner being present.
