Detroit, Mich.- A young dog was found brutally maimed early January 2017. So sever were the injuries, the many social media sites had to blur out portions of his injury photos that were posted because they were causing such upset. This otherwise beautiful brown Rottweiler pup, had his nose and ears cut completely off, and suffered deep gashes along his body and tail. Original story: Dog abuse: Rottweiler found with ears and nose cut off
Thanks to the media attention this story received, the sweet nature of this abused pup, and donations from kind-hearted supporters, Baron was able to get reconstructive surgery and his much needed medical care. Donations have also allowed the reward (to find the person responsible for the dog’s injuries) to skyrocket to $62,000.00. Unfortunately, the perpetrator has not been found.
Good News
Baron has undergone reconstructive surgery on his face and tail, and is recovering well. The surgery allowed for the nasal passage to be covered, and also to repair and suture the very damaged tail. Lasting approximately 2.5 hours, the surgery went as expected. Even better news for Baron? He’s found his forever home and has been adopted by a loving family.
This case of horrific animal abuse is still under active investigation, and anyone with information that leads to an arrest of the criminal behind these incredible acts of violence on an animal, is urged to call the Michigan Humane Society. “It appears that someone purposely maimed this poor dog, which has caused it a great deal of suffering,” said Mark Ramos, one of MHS’ lead cruelty investigators. “This kind of cruelty is unacceptable. We need to be a voice for these animals and as a community we need to speak through our strong actions to make sure this doesn’t happen again.” The reward has now gone up to $62,000 in this case. Ramos adds, “This animal deserves justice.”
